Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — a patch test is required 48 hours before any brow or lash treatment. This includes brow tinting, brow lamination, and lash lift treatments. Please contact us to arrange this before booking your appointment.

Both a lash lift and brow lamination typically last 6–8 weeks, depending on your natural hair growth cycle and how closely you follow the aftercare advice. Maintenance appointments are available for brow lamination clients.

Most services and 1-day courses can be booked directly via our online booking system at that-time.co.uk/house-of-doll-studios-training-academy. For 2-day and 3-day makeup courses, and the 2-day Advanced Beauty Pro course, please use our enquiry form on the Contact page and we will be in touch with available dates.

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking or course place. The remaining balance is due on the day of your appointment or first day of your course. "Buy Now, Pay Later" finance is available for full-price payments on most courses — please note a service fee (interest) is applied by the finance provider.

All deposits are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule your appointment, please give at least 48 hours notice and we will do our best to accommodate you. No-shows or cancellations with less than 48 hours notice may forfeit their deposit.

Most of our beginner courses require no prior experience — including the Lash Lift & Tint, Korean Lash Lift, Brow Combo, 1 Day Beauty Pro and both makeup courses. Some courses do require a previous qualification, such as Brow Lamination (which requires a Brow Wax & Tint qualification). These requirements are clearly stated on each course page.

Yes — all accredited courses are certified by Beauty Industry Approval (BIA) and taught to National Occupational Standards. Your certificate is recognised for insurance and professional membership purposes, allowing you to legally take paying clients.

All training is one-to-one. There are no group classes at House of Doll — every student receives completely personalised guidance throughout their course. This means we work at your pace and adapt to your individual learning style.

All training takes place at our private studio: 4B Swanbridge Court, Bedwas, Caerphilly CF83 8FW. We have a professional, fully-equipped training environment with everything you need on the day.

Yes. Our studio in Bedwas is just outside Caerphilly, around 20–30 minutes from Cardiff and Newport, and we welcome clients and students from right across South Wales. Because every course is one-to-one, we can arrange dates that suit your travel.

All courses include one-to-one tuition with Danielle, use of professional kit and studio facilities on the day, training manuals for each treatment covered, and access to our private WhatsApp student community. An optional starter kit is available for most brow and lash courses at an additional cost — so you leave with everything you need to start taking clients.

Yes — the 2-Day Advanced Beauty Pro course includes a free optional refresher session within 6 months of qualifying. Some other courses also have the option of a paid refresher. Contact us if you are a past student who would like to refresh your skills.
